First shown at Unbothered. Moisturized. In my Lane. Focused. Flourishing., Förderverein Aktuelle Kunst (FAK26), Münster (2026).

ON-OFF STATE is a large kinetic body of polished steel, grown around a motorcycle frame and combined with aluminium, resin and fiberglass. Some of its forms are not modelled but reproduced: fiberglass cast directly off car body panels brings found volumes into the work. The structure is driven by solenoid actuators whose principle is purely binary, on and off. Through software, PWM and easing curves, that hard switching tips into a strange, almost organic movement. The sculpture runs through phases of tension, excitement and a restless back and forth, tensing, holding still, seeming to breathe. A cold mechanical object shifts towards a body in standby, a machine that behaves as if it had a will. The title stays literal: a work that only knows on and off, and reads as alive precisely in the switching between the two.
